ELEVATE Hoops Night is a developmental basketball program held on Monday Mini Hoopers (Girls Gr 1-2 & 3-4, Boys Gr 2-3), Tuesday (Gr 3-5 & 6-7: Boys & Girls separated), Thursday (Gr 3-5 & 6-7: Boys & Girls separated) & Friday (Gr 3-5 & 6-7: Boys & Girls together) evenings. ELEVATE runs three seasons of Hoops Nights (Winter, Spring, Fall), each containing 10, 1.5 hr sessions (Mini Hoopers 1.25 hr sessions). With an emphasis on sportsmanship and fun, Hoops Nights are designed to teach grade 1-2, 3-5, 6-7 boys & girls (separate boys & girls Hoops Nights) fundamental basketball skills such as dribbling, shooting, rebounding, and passing. As well, players will learn about different offensive and defensive formations and strategies. Hoops Nights features station work comprised of carefully chosen, challenging drills that are designed to teach and reinforce the fundamental mechanics in basketball skills, followed by many fun modified games and full court 5 on 5 games!
Character development is stressed in all of the ELEVATE Hoops Night programs. At ELEVATE, we believe in an ‘inside-out’ coaching philosophy, which focuses on character development and the building of strong core/moral values in each individual. Using the game of basketball, in a coaching/mentorship approach, our passion is to teach such inner disciplines as: commitment, work ethic, and perseverance, which will set players up for success on the court, in the classroom, and ultimately in life! ELEVATE hoops nights also strive to create community in the program, by developing youth who are ‘others-focused’ and who understand what it means to be a team player!
