ELEVATE BASKETBALL Camp Coach & Former College Basketball Player & Current Elementary School Teacher & Coach
Coach van der Waarde is a former Trinity Western Spartan Varsity Rugby player winning a championship in his junior year and co-captaining the team in his senior year. After completing both his Bachelor’s and Teaching degrees, he pursued his teaching career and is currently a Teacher and Basketball coach at Harry Sayers Elementary School. All four of his and his wife’s sons have gone through the ELEVATE basketball program starting with hoop nights, then playing on their club teams. All four have even grown through the program being mentored to be coaches themselves for ELEVATE. First as mentor coaches, then as fully capable members of the coaching staff. Coach van der Waarde loves working with young athletes to help them reach their potential as hoopers and as young people in our world. He loves to bring energy to the gym and make learning the game fun and memorable.
