ELEVATE Basketball is proud to announce that Carter Van Der Waarde has been given a red shirt position on the 2024-25 Trinity Western University roster! Carter Van Der Waarde started playing basketball at ELEVATE in the Hoops Night and loved coming each week. He would lay his reversible jersey on the ground in his room the night before, in anticipation for another hyped HOOPS NIGHT! Carter’s love for the game went from fun to passion instantly as he fell in love with the repetitions of shooting the basketball. Carter played on various club teams for ELEVATE and has been a long time mentor coach, seeking to encourage young aspiring players to follow his footsteps. Carter’s ability to shoot the basketball significantly ignited after he took on a challenge from Coach Janzen. Coach Janzen challenged Carter to thoroughly complete the PURE SHOOTING TRAINING SYSTEM (online shooting program with printable logsheets), created personally by Coach Janzen himself (www.pureshootingtrainingsystem.com). Little did Carter know that he just signed up for a 3 month elite level shooting program, where he tested in at the “intermediate level’ of the program. Carter was diligent and never missed a shooting workout. He was disciplined and committed logging all his results in the daily shooting logbook. To get the all the shooting drills in some days, his dad Chris Van Der Waarde (current ELEVATE camp coach), installed flood lights on the house so that Carter could complete the workouts. Carter Van Der Waarde is officially the first youth basketball player that has fully completed the PURE SHOOTING TRAINING SYSTEM (intermediate level), proving it by handing in his logbook fully completed (3 month in duration). Carter attests that the 2-week shooting technique workout, the over 110+ shooting drills took his shooting performance to an entire different level. It is no surprise that Coach Pridie at TWU noticed his great form/technique, and his sheer ability to shoot the basketball from anywhere, any range on the court.
